Frequently asked questions

What is Okta?

Okta is an identity cloud solution that facilitates your access to Iress Pro on any device. OKTA runs on a secure, reliable, extensively audited cloud platform, which integrates with on-premises applications like Iress Pro, directories and identity management systems.

Why should we login via Okta?

This integration introduces numerous benefits to you including

  • Password reset self-service
  • Highly secure authentication endpoints
  • Multi-factor / Two-factor authentication
  • Stronger password protocols

This means extra control and flexibility is available to create a more seamless end user experience.

What does self-servicing password reset mean to me?

It’s inevitable that users will occasionally forget their password usually resulting in frustration, lost productivity and time delays where external support is needed for remediation. With Okta integration in Iress Pro, you can now reset your own password anytime and have peace of mind that strong authentication requirements are keeping your workplace secure.

Why should I use multi-factor authentication provided by Okta?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides an extra layer of confidence that an authentic user is logging in to your systems. MFA or 2FA (Two factor authentication) also neutralises the risks associated with compromised passwords. If a password is hacked, guessed or even phished, it is no longer enough to provide access without a secondary authentication method meaning a password alone is useless.

Am I required to use MFA for my Iress Pro account?

MFA / 2FA is a recommended option for all Iress Pro users.

What is Single Sign On / Federated login?

Iress Pro is now enabled to work with Single sign-on (SSO); an authentication method that many organisations use enabling a user to login to multiple applications with a single set of credentials and removing the need to authenticate each application individually. Iress Pro’s Okta enables Iress Pro to work with your organisation's own authentication tool. Also referred to as federated login, it provides greater security through centralised access management.
