Iress today announced that it has been named as one of the Financial Times Asia-Pacific Climate Leaders for 2025.

Iress was one of 36 Australian headquartered companies included on the list of 350 organisations, and the only Australian business in the Technology & Electronics sector to be included.

The list, compiled by the Financial Times and research company Statista, recognises those companies that have achieved significant reduction in their Scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity over the 2018-2023 period. The ranking also considered transparency about Scope 3 (value chain) emissions and participation in the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

In 2023, Iress announced that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) had endorsed the company’s near-term emissions reduction targets; a commitment to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 69.3% by 2030 from a 2019 base year. Iress also committed to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 27.5% within the same timeframe.

Iress’ Head of Environmental and Social Impact, Blaise Porter, said: “According to research by Deloitte Access Economics and Iress, natural disasters and environmental volatility linked to climate change is one of the seven megatrends reshaping the future of financial advice, highlighting the importance of taking genuine action on climate change.

“At Iress, we’re proud that the actions we’ve taken to reduce emissions, including moving to 95% renewable electricity in our offices in Australia, have led to being recognised as an Asia-Pacific climate leader by Financial Times and Statista.”
